Katie Dawson & Jillian Trentowski named Newsday All Long Island Athletes

SWR Varsity Cheerleading juniors, Katie Dawson and Jillian Trentowski, have been named Newsday All Long Island Athletes for the 2021-2022 sports season. This is the first time an SWR Cheerleader was listed on a Newsday All Long Island team, and they both made it! Katie and Jillian are 2 out of only 7 juniors to make Newsdays 2nd team.

Katie Dawson is currently a junior and captain on our squad. She was pulled up as an 8th grader to Varsity in fall of 2018 after starting that year on our programs very first middle school squad. Katie is currently the most elite tumbler in our program, and has been a point flyer for the past 4 seasons. She is currently working her standing full and cartwheel full for next season.

Jillian Trentowski is an SWRVC captain and a junior. She was pulled up to varsity as an 8th grader in summer of 2018. Jillian was a flyer for SWR Varsity Cheer in her first 3 years with us, but this past season she hopped in as a main base. She’s currently back in the air as she works in the off season to prepare for her senior year. Jillian is one of our most experienced athletes who is currently working on getting her full for next season.

Both Jillian and Katie are heading into their senior year at SWR as the first 5 year Varsity Cheerleading athletes in program history! Congratulations to them both on this huge accomplishment!
